Tocumwal Foreshore Committee (TFC)

TFC is a community group of 12 volunteer members. TFC manages the Foreshore area from the Town Beach to the Old Bridge for the community and the Berrigan Shire and has done so since its inception in the late 1950s. The TFC has put every structure on the Foreshore up until the construction of the Splash Park and the new commercial building.

Tocumwal Town Beach

The TFC manages the Town Beach Camping and runs the highly regarded Tocumwal Foreshore Markets 10 times a year. Town Beach attracts many campers/caravanners who stay for varying periods and through surveys done in 2017 and adjusted after current discussions with campers they contribute around $1,500,000 to the economy of Tocumwal.

The reputation of Tocumwal Town Beach spreads around Australia through word of mouth by many visiting campers from around Australia and the world. You only need to take a look at “Wikicamps” to grasp the extent of the reputation of Tocumwal Town Beach amongst the “free camping” community. Tocumwal Markets

This market attracts around 50,000 people to Tocumwal in 12 months and every shopkeeper in town tells me their biggest trading day of the month is Market Day! The promotion of the town of Tocumwal to these visitors, by word of mouth, is huge and is what money can’t buy! We also advertise extensively on our social media page and website. Click here to learn more

Contribution to our Community

From the money raised via the Markets and Beach Camping, we maintain the structures on the Foreshore and the grass areas upstream of the old boat ramp with equipment purchased by the Foreshore funds and the work is done by our volunteers. You will see them out mowing, raking wiper snipping, cleaning and maintaining.

Projects completed in recent years

• Gravelled the muddy or dusty walking track to the Beach for safer access for all including the disabled.
• Applied for a grant, created and installed the bird signs along the “Bird Walk”
• Created and sourced the idea and groundwork costs and information on building a splash park until the Shire saw the light on the advantages of the project and joined us to make it happen
• Created and sourced the idea of an amphitheatre with a floating stage until the Shire saw the light on the advantages of the project
• Created the “lights on the levee” idea and purchased them
• Many other maintenance jobs and some new ideas in the pipeline

Financial contributions to Projects

With the prudent saving of our income over the last 10 years we have been able to support the following:
• $200,000 to the Splash Park
• $10,000 to the Shire cash shortfall in the levee concrete path
• $60,000 purchase of the levee lights
• $60,000 contributed to the greywater collection system at Town Beach. To be installed soon
• $60,000 contributed to the Shire for the Amphitheatre project
• $60,000 contributed to the Shire for landscaping at the new building
• $10,000 to resurface the “Bird Walk” track
• $6500 gravel spread at Town Beach for dust suppression
• $10,000 to rebuild the Bird Walk path
• And the quest goes on!

Why do we do it? Because we care about the town that we live in and we are part of the Tocumwal Community
